Meer dan 80% van de inwoners in België ervaren te hoge snelheid van wagens als hinderlijk, en vragen aan de politie en het lokale bestuur om hier iets aan te doen.
Door het verhogen van de snelheidshandhaving willen we een duidelijke boodschap sturen: veiligheid op de weg staat voorop. We zetten daarom in op mobiele elektronische snelheidscontroles door de politie én het plaatsen van vaste snelheidscamera’s op de vier invalswegen naar Hoeilaart. Deze camera’s zullen ervoor zorgen dat inkomend verkeer zich aan de correcte snelheid houdt. Naast handhaving willen we nog meer inzetten op sensibilisering van de weggebruikers. Een mooi voorbeeld hiervan zijn snelheidsmeters, dewelke bestuurders laten zien hoe snel ze rijden en wat soms heel confronterend kan zijn. Bijkomende duidelijk signalisatie en infoborden kunnen zeker preventief werken opdat iedereen zich aan de juiste snelheid houdt.

En augmentant le contrôle de la vitesse, nous voulons envoyer un message clair : la sécurité routière est prioritaire. C’est pourquoi nous investissons dans des contrôles électroniques mobiles de la vitesse par la police et l’installation de radars fixes sur les quatre routes principales menant à Hoeilaart. Ces radars permettront de s’assurer que le trafic entrant respecte les limites de vitesse. En plus de la répression, nous souhaitons renforcer la sensibilisation des usagers de la route. Un bon exemple en est les radars pédagogiques, qui montrent aux conducteurs leur vitesse et peuvent parfois être très révélateurs. Une signalisation claire supplémentaire et des panneaux d’information peuvent certainement avoir un effet préventif pour que chacun respecte la vitesse autorisée.

More than 80% of residents in Belgium find excessive vehicle speed to be a nuisance and are asking the police and local authorities to address this issue. By increasing speed enforcement, we want to send a clear message: road safety comes first. Therefore, we are focusing on mobile electronic speed checks by the police and installing fixed speed cameras on the four main roads into Hoeilaart. These cameras will ensure that incoming traffic adheres to the correct speed limits. In addition to enforcement, we also want to focus more on raising awareness among road users. A good example of this is speed meters, which show drivers how fast they are going, and this can often be quite eye-opening. Additional clear signage and information boards can also have a preventive effect, encouraging everyone to maintain the correct speed.
